Welcome to Kingfishers 2017-2018 everyone!
A new breed of Kingfishers has nestled well into Year 6 and with them comes some admirable creativity….
On the first day of school we explored the potential meanings of ‘Blobs’ positions in trees and on bridges, linking this to discussions of our character traits in action and most importantly, showing empathy for each other. In the afternoon, we challenged ourselves further to create and construct our own ‘Blob models’ which would illustrate what we want from Year 6 this year, what we will expect from ourselves and what we will expect from each other. I was extremely impressed by the collaboration shown by all of the groups and we had some fabulous discussions about the messages in each group’s models at the end of the day. I am very proud to share the children’s versions with you now! It has taken a little longer to share this with you than what I’d have liked as the children learnt to use software on my laptop to label their ‘Blob models’. However, I am sure you’ll agree that they are worth waiting for!
Here we have a ‘Blob Park’, courtesy of Freya, Ben, Grace W and James:
Followed by a ‘Blob Library’ thanks to Imogen, Harvey, Charlotte and Callum:
A ‘Blob Volcano’, envisaged by Evan, Grace S, Iona and Kyle:
and finally a ‘Blob Box’, created by Jasmine, Georgi, Noah and Archie:
There are some wonderfully insightful observations on learning in these captions and I just know that Kingfishers have a successful and thrilling year ahead of themselves with this maturity and creative thought. LET’S DO THIS! To have inspired Mrs Hancock to create a ‘Blob Tree’ display in school from these projects was just the icing on the cake: you have already left your Year 6 legacy from the first week of the year Kingfishers! #proudteacher
P.s Here are some behind-the-scenes snippets of our routes to such masterpieces too!
