Today we have been blown away (not by Storm Aileen, you’ll be pleased to hear) by laughter and enjoyment from Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore, who are our new Patrons of Reading. They delivered an amazing assembly to Eagles and Kingfishers that made us reflect on how to be an author. We also learnt alot about what life is like to be an author and they inspired us to keep on writing even though they agreed that it is hard. Most adults give up writing! We’ve decided we won’t! We liked how they encouraged us to not give up on any of our ideas for our stories because they’re ours and we can never be wrong.
Even though they argued about having arguments, they still work as a fantastic duo because they’ve written 212 books together! Their joke about writing their first words in the carpet with lipstick and on the wall in bright orange crayon will stick like glue in our minds forever but not impress you (it is very funny though!).
What they do when they write books is different to other authors we’ve read before because they admitted they are brave enough to kill the hero in the story off and we like this.
We will never forget their hilarious impressions of ‘Stickies’: their leaking antics; the hugging of their legs; the stroking of their feet; their exclamations of their birthdays and their hamsters; their zombie walk into assembly; their permanently gluey and snotty hands; their flashing of their pants and their tongues constantly hanging out. We loved the part of our workshop when Steve kept telling the stickies off.
I don’t think we will forget this day in a hurry. Thanks Steve and Steve!
And well done parents for reading our blog……HAVE A FISH (in the words of Steve Skidmore himself!).
