It was great to see so many parents at our information event. I hope everyone found it useful. One parent asked about a good website for helping with phonics at home. I thought it might be something that more parents would be interested in and so here is one:
If you click on the yellow ‘free phonics play’ button, there are ample free activities available that follow the same scheme that we teach in school. Feel free to explore the Phase 1 section (click on the tab down the left hand side). This phase develops skills in listening for different sounds -a vital early phonics skill. We have just begun introducing aspects of phase 2 and have so far taught the phonemes s, a, t, p. Feel free to have a look at this but be aware that there are many aspects of this that we haven’t taught yet. Phases 3 and 4 will be taught later in the year and phase 5 is taught in year 1.
It works well on a desktop computer or laptop but I’m not sure how well it works on a tablet or mobile.
We are available at the start and end of every day so please don’t hesitate to ask us any other questions.
