Yesterday I fulfilled a dream.
I finally managed to v visit Graceleand, Elvis’s home.
It was something my Mum and her brother had always talked about.
While we were there we saw much of the lavishly decorated house- which was’t that large really, but I imagine in the 1970 s it was a luxury abode.
Elvis and his family are also buried there- quite moving for all to visit, particularly as we reflected on his life – a very tough childhood and then fame and wealth but also what appeared to be a group of people around him who wanted to share his wealth and privilege.
It made me reflect on the impact of fame on an individual’s life- as what came across again and again was how much Elvis seemed to crave peace and family time. This seems an apt reflection this Bank Holiday weekend.
Family led me to make this journey, and I am learning so much.
I hope you are all having a great holiday from school . Hopefully some of the things I am sharing are of interest- or inspiring you to find out more. I’m sure a visit to the Graceland website will describe what we saw yesterday .
Today we are journeying to Nashville … the home of country music . Mr H knows more about that than me so I’m sure I have more to learn!
