Yesterday, the queen of a foreign land came to visit the Owl class to ask for their help. After her initial visit, she was a bit disappointed that she didn’t have a throne to sit on. So some discussions and descriptive writing about what a throne might look like took place. We then set about making some models of thrones suitable for the dolls house people out of recycled materials (junk modelling). We had to ensure that they had the features of a good throne such as being comfy with arms and a high back rest. Here are some of the finished products:
Later that day the queen returned to explain that she had a problem with trolls in her village. She wanted to send them a letter to ask them not to come into the village and to scare the people. The class were asked to design vehicles, drones and helicopters with video cameras that could track down the troll’s cave. We made these out of a variety of materials. Here are some of our finished products:
We also wrote stories about what the trolls had been doing to terrorise the village.
Today, the queen returned to thank us for our help and to let us know that our inventions had been successful in tracking down the troll’s cave overnight. Our last task was to write letters to the trolls to ask them not to come into the village and also to write descriptions of the trolls to hand out to the villagers.
