Last night we had a pyjama party at school. We enjoyed watching a movie, eating popcorn and crisps, having supper and sharing bedtime story books. We had lots of fun.
On Wednesday Steve Skidmore came to school to celebrate being an author with us. In the afternoon we enjoyed his assembly and then he came into our classroom to work with us. He taught us how to create a new Action Dog character. It needed a name and a super skill. We chose our class favourite top six characters, but they were all great. The next day we wrote stories for our new characters. We learned that it can be hard to come up with new ideas, but if we concentrate we can get it right.
Steve held book awards in school on Wednesday evening. Some of our classmates won certificates and Harry was very proud to win a trophy.
In science we have been learning how materials are all around us and are useful for different reasons. We looked outside and indoors for natural and manmade materials.
In our maths work we have been learning how to create tally charts and block graphs. Sometimes the number scale needs to jump in numbers such as tens or fives or twos.
Fantastic Mr Fox has been our fantastic read this term. It’s a really funny and exciting story. The three big, mean farmers are grumpy and they want to kill Mr Fox. We have enjoyed finding out how clever Mr Fox is.
All in all a great couple of weeks again for the Chaffinches. We wonder what we will get up to next week.
