Taking a couple of weeks of with family before diving back in and getting ready for next year, but it is time to appreciate what we ‘ve achieved at Captain’s Close. We are a small school, which means a small staff – but we achieve many things. This is testament to the commitment of the few!
Some things just slip through the radar as things we as a school do, but they are extraordinary and make us what we are uniquely.
Our sleepover for our younger children- a Friday night like no other, but changes lives and transforms independence, sports day- logistical nightmare but is a true community celebration of sporting attitudes, our numerous enterprise events that foster children’s understanding of the economy and make developing business real, giving them chance to apply all key skills and creativity.
Then there’s our production, put together in record time alongside everything else!
This year saw the first home- grown RSC performance for all our schools- on site and amazing! What a fantastic celebration of our network and a great chance for the children to work together. A fantastic Saturday.
Another wonderful afternoon at the Summer Fair – the whole community coming together to have fun… and raise some money!
Let’s not forget the DSaT awards night where our children shone- and Lily opened the event with an amazing speech- just one of the many fantastic speeches written by our children. This was followed up be our awards tea at school.
Both KS 2 trips were enjoyed and experienced by our years 4, 5 and 6 and allowed our children to experience so many new challenges and cultural opportunities. Walking through Chinatown will be a big personal memory- for our children who had never been to London this was magical.
These are just a few of the memories we made- and all of these would not have happened if it wasn’t for the dedication of our staff- note they are nearly all out of normal school
day hours, or involved preparation beyond normal planning. There is so much that goes into each event, and with a small staff this is amazing. Thankyou to each and every one of them- and the parents who have supported us- our children’s lives are richer and our school is brighter because of you.
PS on the subject of what happens in the daytime, in addition to all the fantastic attitudes and richness of our learning , I’ m looking Forward to publishing this year’s results – such amazing achievements. Well done everyone- bring on next year- WE ARE AMAZING
